Biography:

Sarah began her acting career at age 4 when she was discovered by an agent while eating in a local restaurant. Three weeks later she was on the set of her first film, An Invasion of Privacy. This chance discovery was to later boost her professional career which has lasted 18 of her 21 years of life. In addition to having been one of the two regular hostesses of the TV talk show, "Girl Talk," Sarah is a veteran of TV, film, and stage. She has appeared with Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz in The Widow Claire at the Circle in the Square, and had a feature film open in which she co-starred with Sally Kirkland and Robert Lupone. She has appeared on Spenser: For Hire, Love, Sidney, The David Letterman Show and The Regis Philbin Show. She has done over 100 commercials and is a Wilhelmina Model. She has also appeared in Crossbow which she filmed in France and Switzerland. Sarah played Molly in the original cast of Neil Simon's Jake's Women and young Jacqueline Bouvier in the award winning NBC mini-series A Woman Named Jackie. Sarah started to gain a small, but loyal, fanbase when she played the lead role of Sydney Rutledge in the teen soap opera, Swan's Crossing.

On February 24th 1993, Sarah Michelle began work on the set of All My Children. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1994 and, although she lost, she was nominated again in 1995 and won in the Younger Leading Actress category. Although she had given the producers 6 months notice of her decision to leave the show, she made her decision public the day after the Emmy win. After 2 ý years, Sarah left the set of AMC and moved to California to seek new fame in films or TV.

In 1996, Sarah was picked as the lead of a new series called Buffy the Vampire Slayer based on the movie by the same name. Warner Brothers bought 13 episodes of the show, and although ratings of the pilot were the highest ever of any of the WB lineup, it ranked 100th out of 107 programs in the Nielson ratings. Warner Brothers renewed the show for another 22 episodes which will begin airing September 15th.

In June of 1997, Sarah finished shooting I Know What You Did Last Summer which stars her and Jenniffer Love Hewitt as teens that try to cover up a hit and run. It was released on October 17th and became number one that weekend, earning a profit in just two days. Shortly after filming IKWYDLS, Sarah flew down to Atlanta, GA to film Scream 2, which had the largest December opening of a film and made more money in it's first weekend than the other top 9 films combined.

Sarah next took a break from the horror genre to film Cruel Intentions and Simply Irresistible

On March 10, 1998, Sarah won a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the Best Supporting Actress - Horror category for her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

On August 12th, 1999, Sarah signed a contract with Maybelline to become the first celebrity spokeswoman since Linda Carter in the late 70's, and can be seen in television and print advertising for the makeup company.

The new millennium has been very favorable to Sarah so far. In 2000, she won a few awards given out by the Teen Choice Awards and the MTV Movie awards.

2001 proved to be a great year for her personal and professional lives. First, she earned a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a TV-Series - Drama category in the Golden Globe Awards. Then she became engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr. on her birthday in April. The Teen Choice Awards also honored Sarah that summer with an Extraordinary Achievement Award.

In 2002, Scooby Doo, the movie Sarah co-starred in with Freddie, Matt Lillard and Linda Cardellini, became a summer blockbuster earning a whopping $250 million worldwide. In June she co-hosted the MTV Movie Awards, which became the highest rated in the show's history. This year also marked the most memorable occasion in her personal life. On September 1, 2002, Sarah and Freddie exchanged their marriage vows in a private ceremony in Mexico. In October, Sarah was honored with a Woman of The Year Award by Glamour Magazine during their Annual Women of The Year Awards.

The year 2003 is a time for endings and new beginnings. Early this year, Sarah announced her decision not to re-new her Buffy contract. So, after seven highly acclaimed seasons, the show aired its series finale on May 20, 2003. From April to July, Sarah worked on Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed in Vancouver (Canada). On August 2nd, Sarah won the award for Choice TV Drama Actress at the 2003 Teen Choice Awards. The latter part of the year was very busy for Sarah. We saw her in August participate in Ford's 2003 Tied To The Cause Campaign by posing for an ad that features the limited-edition scarf for sale to benefit breast cancer awareness. Her breast cancer charity work continued with the Young Survival Coalition's 5th Anniversary gala, which she co-hosted and featured an auction. In November, Sarah visited the widlfire-ravaged San Bernardino County to share her blessings with the fire victims. She donated clothings and toys and met with residents along with the Red Cross. She also participated in the Jeans for Genes auction to benefit the National Hemophilia Foundation. On December 4th, Sarah was honored with the 2003 Divine Design's Women of Style Award for her "outstanding contributions to the world of design and her humanitarian efforts on behalf of persons with AIDS". Later that month, it was announced that Sarah had signed on to star in The Grudge, an American remake of the popular Japanese horror film (series), Ju-On.

From January to March 2004, Sarah stayed in Japan for the filming of her new project, The Grudge. She returned to the States for the premiere of Scooby Doo 2: Monster's Unleashed on March 19th. The sequel took the no. 1 spot in its opening weekend. Sarah also attended the UK premiere of SD2 on March 26th, much to the delight of her fans in that part of the world. March also marked her very first guest (voice) appearance on The Simpsons. Her episode, which garnered high ratings, aired on March 28th. In May, Sarah signed on to star in Southland Tales, a Richard Kelly project. Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall. July 24th was a 'historic' day to remember. Sarah made her first ever appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2004 to promote the now much anticipated film, The Grudge, which opens on October 22nd.
